The "Tech Code" Behind the Hot-Selling Grain Dryers

Grain is an indispensable material for human survival and development, and its importance is self-evident. However, due to climate and environmental factors, grain drying has long been a persistent challenge. How can this critical bottleneck be resolved? Anhui Zhengyang Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Jin'an Economic Development Zone, has provided the answer. On February 28, reporters visited the company’s facilities to uncover the technological secrets behind this nationwide bestseller.
Founded in 2011, Anhui Zhengyang Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. covers an area of 130 mu with a total floor space of 50,000 square meters and employs more than 250 staff members. As a specialized Chinese manufacturer integrating the R&D, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service of low-temperature circulating grain dryers and energy-saving hot air stoves, the company has consistently prioritized scientific and technological innovation in recent years, allocating over 7% of its annual revenue to R&D expenditure.
Li Yongjiu, the company's CFO, noted that through industry-academia-research collaboration with universities and years of technical breakthroughs, the "5H Top-and-Bottom Auger-Free" series dryers have received excellent market feedback since their launch in 2015, rapidly becoming a nationwide hit. Notably, from 2016 onward, the company achieved an annual output value and sales revenue exceeding 100 million yuan for four consecutive years. In 2022, while competitors across the industry experienced year-on-year sales declines, Zhengyang Machinery alone saw its sales surge by more than 40% compared to 2021. The company set yet another record in 2023, with annual production and sales of various drying equipment surpassing 2,100 units and generating 310 million yuan in revenue.
Inside the production workshop, reporters observed multiple models of the "5H Top-and-Bottom Auger-Free" series dryers, with capacities ranging from just over ten tons to several dozen tons. "The model you're looking at is the 5H-30B top-and-bottom auger-free dryer; this single product now accounts for 50% of total national output," Li Yongjiu explained. Compared with conventional dryers under identical operating conditions, Zhengyang's "5H Top-and-Bottom Auger-Free" series offers seven major advantages: lower breakage rate, lower failure rate, lower brown rice ratio, greater energy and cost efficiency, faster drying speed, faster discharge rate, and simpler operation. These features have made the series highly favored by grain processors, traders, large-scale farmers, and family farm operators. It was awarded the Gold Prize by the organizing committee of the 18th China International Grain & Oil Products and Equipment Technology Exhibition and Trade Fair, marking another groundbreaking innovation in China's grain drying equipment sector.
From an obscure small factory with just dozens of employees and an annual output value of less than 20 million yuan at its inception, Zhengyang Machinery has grown into a leading enterprise ranking first in national industry sales. Under the leadership of Chairman Zhang Weifa, the company has achieved leapfrog development through innovative products and superior services, earning commendation from the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government at the city's "First Meeting of the New Year" for two consecutive years.
"Right after receiving the award, I took the opportunity of our 2024 Sales Mobilization Conference and Installation & After-Sales Deployment Conference to immediately convey the spirit of the municipal meeting to both management and frontline staff, encouraging everyone to work with full vigor and make new contributions," said Zhang Weifa. He added that in the coming period, the company will focus intensively on its full range of dryer series and drying accessories, further improve product quality and after-sales service, expand its market presence domestically and internationally, and strive to reach an output value of 500 million yuan by 2025—contributing even greater Zhengyang strength to safeguarding national food security.
